SALGADO BACKS REAL MADRID FLOP

Real Madrid legend Michel Salgado is ready to give striker Luka Jovic all the time in the world to prove himself as a worthy signing for the Spanish La Liga team. He has backed the Serbian international to live up to his €60m transfer fee spent to sign the striker from German Bundesliga team Eintracht Frankfurt.

In one of his past interviews, ex-Real Madrid right-back Michel Salgadotold Omnisport that Luka Jovic has the quality required to be a hit at the Estadio Santiago Bernebeu. Luka Jovic was signed by Real Madrid last summer and he’s in his second season at the club. He scored one goal plus two assists in 17 league games last season, while he failed to score or assist in five Champions League games. In total, he scored a goal and two assists in 22 games in all competitions in what was his debut season in Spain.

Luka Jovic was linked with several clubs in the summer. The likes of Premier League club Leicester City, Italian Serie A side AC Milan and many more were interested in taking the Serbian striker either on loan or on a permanent deal but he favoured staying at Real Madrid for a second consecutive season over any transfer to a new club. He has not started his second season at Real Madrid well at all as the player has failed to score or assist in his five games in all competitions this term. Four of those five games were in La Liga.

Jovic is a long way from building a legacy at Real Madrid like what Michel Salgado did at the club. Michel Salgado was one of the best right-backs of his generation. He spent a decade with Real Madrid between 1999 and 2009 having joined them from Celta Vigo. He made 53 appearances for Spain during his career.
